About Nestwise

Nestwise was created from two sides of the same story -  being a mum, and being a paediatric nurse.

Before I had the knowledge and experience I do now, I knew what it felt like to worry about a child and not know whether something was normal, whether I should wait and watch, or whether I needed to seek help.

My own daughter experienced eczema, asthma and anaphylaxis from a young age, and those early years shaped so much of the way I understand parental worry.

I remember the sleepless nights, the constant second-guessing and the feeling of wanting someone to simply tell me:

What matters? What should I be watching for? And when do I need help?

Those experiences became part of the reason I went on to become a registered paediatric nurse.

Working with children and families has given me a completely different understanding of childhood illness, newborn care, assessment and the healthcare system - but becoming a nurse didn’t take away the feelings that come with being a mum.

I still worry about my own children.

The difference is that now I know what I’m looking for.

And that is what I wanted to give other parents.

Why I created Nestwise

Nestwise was created to make paediatric health information feel clearer, calmer and easier to use in real life.

Because when your baby won’t stop crying at 2am, your toddler suddenly develops a fever, or your child wakes up unwell, you don’t want to read pages of complicated medical information.

You want to know:

Is this normal?
What can I do at home?
What should I watch for?
When should I seek medical help?

Nestwise guides bring that information together in a practical format designed for busy, tired and sometimes worried parents.

The aim isn’t to make parents feel like they need to diagnose their children themselves.

It’s to help them feel more informed, recognise the signs that matter, and feel more confident about what to do next.

Created with care

Every Nestwise guide is designed by myself, a registered paediatric nurse and mum, with information based on trusted evidence and New Zealand health guidance.

The guides are intentionally simple, practical and easy to scan - because health information is only useful if you can actually understand it when you need it.

Nestwise is here to sit somewhere between the late-night Google search and the healthcare appointment.

A calm place to start when you’re unsure.

From one parent to another

If Nestwise helps you feel a little more reassured, a little more prepared, or gives you the confidence to seek help when something doesn’t feel right, then it is doing exactly what I created it to do.

You don’t need to know everything.
You just need to know what matters.
